apple do-nots

April 6, 2016

Snack time is always the most dangerous time for me. Give me a bag of potato chips I’ll eat the whole lot, chocolate biscuits? Umm….yes please! So I’ve tried to find ways to always have snack food on hand that is not going to pile on the pounds and is still tasty and satisfying!

These apple ‘do-nots’ are so yummy and full of goodness. They make a great snack and look too pretty to eat, a great idea if you are trying to get children to eat more fruit as they look so enticing! You could use pears for these apple ‘do-nots’ too and you can use any healthy dip/spread/sprinkle/fruit to go on top…these are just a few of my favourite examples!

You will need:

2 x apples

1/4 lemon

organic nut butter (any type)

maple syrup/honey

fresh fruit

sprinkles: eg. chia seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes

cottage cheese **optional

Method:

  • Core the apples and slice into rings.
  • Top with the juice of a 1/4 lemon
  • Arrange the slices and spread with your choice of nut butter/cottage cheese/maple syrup
  • Top with the fresh fruit and sprinkles
  • Enjoy x x
