Making new season athleisure trends your own: Westfield #join the front line
sponsored by Westfield
I was recently doing a bit of thinking about 'personal style' and what it means to me. I mean, of course I get caught up in the latest 'trends' and 'must have' pieces of right now but how do you really slay at making personal style your own?
Westfield asked me to curate a couple of 'athleisure looks' for the coming SS16/17 campaign and I wanted to be true to my own style whilst pushing the boundaries a little. I felt so at home styling and wearing these looks and it excited me for the coming season. I'm seeing so many rich luxurious fabrics popping up, exotic prints, soft sporty tailoring and athleisure driven collections it means you can create awesome juxtapositions in your outfits and it gives you enormous freedom to 'own' your own style.
Westfield is great because you can find the season's best fashion under one roof. Join the conversation at #jointhefronline and www.westfield.com.au/fashion and shop over 220,000 products from Australia's favourite brands at Westfield's searchable mail, Westfield.com
I thought I would showcase a couple of key looks I'm seeing this coming season and different ways you can wear them..I hope you enjoy!
The bomber
Undoubtedly a style staple for the past few seasons the bomber jacket ain't going nowhere. From the classic sporty bomber to the luxurious silky and floral printed bomber it's hard to find a style that won't work for you. I opted for a traditional sporty bomber from Rebel Sport (Adidas) and an awesome exotic floral bomber from The Upside. As you can see both of these looks are heavily contrasted and just shows how you can really play around with different outfits and desired outcomes.

Now this is one of my favourite outfits from this story. I just love a cute skater skirt especially mixed with athleisure pieces. Teaming it with a plain singlet and a cute cropped bomber from Adidas worked really well but I just love the contrast of the sporty cap and formal clutch. This is an outfit I will wear time and time again and absolutely defines my style.

I wanted to wear the oversized printed bomber with something casual and everyday so I chose my vintage ripped jeans and comfy Reebok Skyscape's. I love the print on this jacket and the oversized fit means you could wear it with most things from 'activewear' to a cute white dress!! This is a solid piece for the coming season and the practicality of it makes it a style staple for right now!

The silky slip dress
I am IN LOVE with the new slip dress trend. I have to admit these are more maxi style slips but I am also loving the shorter versions too. I recently bought a short black one and I have literally worn it everywhere with cargo jackets, heavy knit jumpers and denim jackets - so versatile!
With these dresses I wanted to explore more sporty ways to wear the pieces and dress down the 'luxe' look of the silk. I really love playing with this type of contrast and using sporty pieces like sweat bands and mixing them with formal silk dresses (so fun!).
I love the options available this season, Witchery has so many beautiful dresses in neutral palettes and accessories that I am LOVING! I mean, a marble watch ?? Yes please!

This outfit is monochrome heaven! Love the pretty delicate dress with the Nike sneakers and sweatband. I can see myself wearing this out and about and the great thing about this piece is that you can easily throw on some heels and a jacket for a more elevated look.

look #2
LOVE this dress!! The colour, style and ease of wearing has to be one of my favourite dresses that Witchery is currently offering. Of course the pink sweatbands from Nike are not mandatory but I think it brings a cute, fun element to the look. The perforated clutch and sneakers work really well together with this look and those mirrored sunglasses are so cool!
