As part of my Bonds ambassadorship I was recently asked to take part in a few interesting ways to stay fit and to my delight they were classes I had never heard of before (I’m always up for new experiences, especially the challenging ones…..comfort zones be gone!). As I read the brief I was immediately drawn to Retrosweat…an 80’s inspired dance-cardio workout 🙂
If any of you know me personally you will know that I have gone through intense, obsessive phases with Dance-Cardio! I used to go to Zumba at the Sydney Dance Company three times a week when I was in the final year of my Law degree! I just love the energy and fun that you can have through dance……I’m not saying I’m any good, but thats exactly the point! I have no dance training but being expressive and free is so liberating and dance is one of the closest things I can feel to freedom and expressiveness.
Retrosweat has quite the following in Sydney but I have to be honest I had never come across it (otherwise I would have already gone!). Shannon is the owner and instructor of Retrosweat and she bases her workouts on original VHS workouts made famous by Jane Fonda, Denise Austin, Patti Sorenson and Cher. She delivers an awesome workout with 80’s beats from Michael Jackson, The Pointer sisters, Prince and the Police all while donning a rather impressive neon leotard, big hair and perspex earrings….seriously, what is not to love?
I had SO much fun and felt like I had a really good workout! If you’re in Sydney you MUST give this class a try 🙂
