Escape to Qualia

As if the crystal clear, warm water and white sand of Hamilton Island wasn’t enough…..when I stayed on this hypnotic island only a few weeks ago I wondered how it could get any better.

I was lucky enough to enjoy 4 nights on the Island with the last two nights at Qualia. Seldom do I struggle for words, but this place has left me somewhat dumbfounded. I knew I was in for a treat after seeing multiple instagram pictures and reading rave reviews but I didn’t quite expect this level of perfection.

Think peaceful……private……composed.

From the moment you arrive at Qualia all you see is blue…….surrounded by ocean and (hopefully) blue sky the Qualia blues are nothing to be sad about. In fact almost every outlook from this hotel embodies serenity at its finest….save for the occasional jet ski that goes whizzing past but this only breaks up the serene with fun.

The pebble beach club entices the guests to while away the day, taking an occasional dip in the pool, ordering that mandatory cocktail…oh and wandering down to the private beach to partake in some ‘strenuous’ activity such as sailing. Not to mention the exquisite dining options on offer to fill that hungry and ever so infinite holiday tummy.

As the evening turns to night, dining can be savoured at the long pavilion** whilst taking in the fabulous horizon. From the amuse-bouche to the end of the eighth course (yes…..I hear you holiday tummy) time seems to float by in an elegant fashion of sensory perfection. The service may I add is on par with Michelin dining (I should know I was Chef de Rang at Restaurant Nathan Outlaw) and choreographed quite beautifully.

I don’t want to give too much away as I think the element of surprise that Qualia offers is something to be enjoyed and treasured by each individual who stays there. It could mean many things to many people but for me Qualia exudes ‘quiet’ in the loudest way possible.

**evening dining is not available on Sunday and Wednesday at the Long Pavillion
