Heavenly turmeric milk

I've just started a two week 'liver cleanse' with Your Tea which means caffeine is out of the question. My morning Chai/Earl grey will be put on hold and so will my satisfying luxe matcha latte and spicy vegan chai. So...I was thinking of ways to incorporate my 'nut milk' hot drinks into my cleanse and came up with this: sweet and spicy turmeric milk!

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant as well as helping with indigestion and weightloss, it is also said to improve brain function and reduce heart disease (win, win!). Turmeric has an earthy spicy flavour and can compliment sweet dishes surprisingly well! I always keep my jar of Turmeric out as a gentle reminder to sprinkle here and there when I can :)

The beautiful earthy, spicy flavour compliments the cinnamon and honey nut milk so well and is perfect to enjoy in the evening when you are winding down.

You will need:

1 cup of nut milk, (I used home-made macadamia milk but you could also try: almond milk)

1/2 tbsp honey or maple syrup

1/2 tsp ground turmeric, I use: Ovvio

1 cinnamon stick

freshly grated ginger

3 x star anise

Serves 1

Method:

  • Place all of the ingredients in a pan and bring to the boil

  • Allow to simmer very briefly

  • **Optional place in a blender to make a nice frothy drink

  • Serve

  • Enjoy x x

** Turmeric does stain EVERYTHING so be careful. If you stain your blender you can clean it with apple cider vinegar or leave it in direct sunlight x x
