Seasonal smoothie

As you know from my recent post here cooking with seasonal produce is what is natural to me. Seeking out what is growing right now and using it for my meals is so enjoyable.

Seeing as smoothies are my 'staple' I thought I'd try a 'seasonal smoothie' using things I bought from my local farmers market.

I like a green smoothie and I don't mind a bit of spice so I found this really delicious (would love to know your thoughts  :))

You will need:

1-2 Frozen bananas, peeled and chopped

1/2 a ripe avocado, skin and seed removed

1/2 a green apple

300ml nut milk (I use almond)

squeeze of lime

1-2 kaffir lime leaves finely chopped

1 cup of kale - destalked

a few sprigs of parsley

sprinkle of turmeric

half a thumb size piece of ginger grated

1 scoop of protein powder - I use Vanilla Welle Co

Serves 1

Method:

  • Place all of the ingredients into a high speed blender. I use the Vitamix Ascent!!

  • Blend all of the ingredients to the desired consistency. Add more almond milk or filtered water if need be.

  • Pour into a glass and enjoy the green goodness!

Notes:

  • If you prefer a milder 'green' smoothie, leave the kale out!

  • Enjoy x x
